Everything I Wore This Week
The trousers I wore four times, Mother Mermaid in the wild and a big personal breakthrough, 15 years in the making...

MONDAY
On Monday, I headed to London to take part in a Substack panel at SXSW. As a Substack superfan, I’m always happy to share the good word about this platform. However, it served as a bi-yearly reminder that I really do hate public speaking - but you have to push yourself sometimes, right? It was lovely to catch up with Farah and Emma and meet Will too. It was pretty warm, and my main aim was to sweat as little as possible, so a navy shirt with loose-fitting silk trousers ticked the practicality boxes. A mix of textures and neutral tones - it was a simple one, but I felt good and like myself in it, which, for talking in a room of 200 people, felt like a win.
TUESDAY
Looking back at this outfit, I don’t love it. I had to make a trip to the dermatologist (I think these guys are finally going to clear up my chin spots!), and it was cold and due to rain. Like, can it just be summer already!?! IT’S JUNE! I enjoyed the underneath outfit, but couldn’t find a jacket that I loved with it, so this was the best I could come up with. Not awful, but more a product of bad weather and being in a rush. What I really wanted to wear was the base outfit with sandals, sans the jacket. Instead of trying to make it work, I think I should have just started from scratch, although to be fair, it made for a good WFH look once I got home.

Behind the paywall this week:
Modifying Mother Mermaid for my real life and the silhouette that I’ve found works for me.
A colour combo I’m loving that doesn’t include black, plus the books I’ve added to my reading list.
A big personal breakthrough (that’s been years in the making!) and what I plan to wear next week when the weather warms up again.
