Also in Deia, there’s an adorable cafe called De Monio that sells the most gorgeous handmade ceramics. I schlepped four plates home and they’re some of my favorite treasures!
Both times we loved staying in the small village of Banyalbufar on the coast in the Tramuntanas mountains. An under the radar cute village with great nearby hiking trails and good restaurants. Our favourites were Can Colom, San Tomas and goat cheese burger at the bakery near the main square. We still talk about that.
Reading this on the last night of my first trip to Mallorca. Can confirm both El Camino and drinks and lunch at Cafe Miró at La Residencia were both major highlights.

‘Loved this write-up - lots of ideas! We also found Mallorca five years ago and keep going back. During Covid, our daughter and her husband rented a house is Ibiza for a month. They invited us for a week. They worked all day and we’d meet up with them for dinner. We made the effort to explore Ibiza, Formentera and the Mallorca - we fell in love with the later. We first stayed at Son Brull, a converted monastery in the country which was excellent - modern, clean and yummy food. We moved onto Son Bunyola high up in the hills overlooking the Ocean. It’s owned by entrepreneur Richard Branson - also serene, nice renovation, excellent food. This year will be our second stay at Hotel Valdemossa just outside the main village but not so far, so that you can easily stroll into town for a gelato. We have also hired a walking guide each visit - ‘Martine’ - to take us through the Tramuntana hills and along the coastline. My favorite shop is Vicenza (sp?) Textiles -they weave authentic ikat fabric which can be purchased - but they also make bags, placemats, napkins, pillow covers, shoes, etc as well. Beware of cheap printed ikat in local craft markets - buy the real stuff! It’s funny you mention the UK Lake District - that is another favorite vacation spot as well!
