The Style Edit: Even More Leopard Print, a Dupe for THAT Jacket + My New Favourite Jeans
And there's a 'Pack With Me for New York' video in here too.
Hello, hello! This week is a fun one - greetings from New York! I’m working my way around the city on what is essentially a cinnamon bun/vintage shop tour and will share all next week. But until then, did you spot last week’s very autumnal-toned outfit diary? Yep? Wonderful. Let’s crack on, shall we?
You know me - there’s yet *another* leopard print section this week. The Ancient Greek Slippers in Leopard Print* were put on my radar by Kelly, and seeing as I already have them in the cow print, I’ll be skipping, but I’m here to tell you that if you wanted to wear these out of the house, you totally could. Don’t be fooled by the ‘slipper’ title. These things are sturdy. And I love how many of you dropped the link for this Madewell Single-Breasted Topcoat* in the comments of my leopard print jacket post. I love the brushed texture.
…there’s more!!! M&S have gone in with this Leopard Print Velvet Set. Although it looks like the blazer isn’t online yet, the Mini Skirt* is, and to be honest, it would be my pick out of the two anyway. The fit of the blazer looks a little close for my taste, so I’d opt for a size or two up to make it more relaxed. And thanks to Sasha for alerting us via the chat to this ARKET Batwing-Sleeve Shirt*. ARKET are seriously feeding us leopard print lovers this season, and I’m here for it.
You’ve all been wanting an alternative to my much-loved and much-recommended Rohé Mandarin Jacket*, and I can’t take credit for this, because Kelly (again!) found it! But the Peche Vicky Jacket* is probably what you’ve been looking for. Although reviews for the quality of this brand vary online, can anyone report back on this one?
I have a serious problem with this colour. Sure, this Reformation Jessalyn Silk Dress* functions perfectly as a dress, but as a layering piece under a grey cashmere jumper, with deep-indigo barrel leg jeans? HEAVEN.
I spotted this J.Crew Cora Lady Jacket* in Emily’s ‘Pinboard’ post and instantly screengrabbed it to share, as it felt in the same vein as my ARKET Linen-Blazer*, which is now sold out. If I were a corporate ‘in the office’ girlie, I’d be living in these kinda cropped jackets that function as tops, with a wide-leg pair of trousers.
Two fun bags!! I don’t find myself reaching for black leather bags all that often these days, as my outfits tend to need more oomph in the bag department, but I thought this ARKET Fringe Bag* is a more interesting way to add a leather accessory into the mix. And if you’re in the market for a vintage animal print bag, then this Prada Zebra Printed Calf Hair Bag* could be just what you’re after. Danni always has such a good eye for secondhand animal print bags.
Pairs* is a Scotland-founded brand that I saw Anna talk about. They just do socks, very well and merchandise them in a call way that invokes a Pokémon-esque ‘gotta catch ‘em all’ attitude. This set* feels like a good starter kit. I’ll order some and let you know how they compare to my usual Le Bon Shoppe faves.
Zara, put this Viktoria & Woods Holiday Cape* in her most recent post, and I think I outwardly swooned when I saw it. I have absolutely zero need for this in my life, but if you want that wow piece to really take whatever you layer it over to the next level, then I think you might need a cape?! I predict that next year, capes and ponchos will be the new ‘going out top’. Be still, my 2003 beating heart!!!
Just to circle back on the SLVRLAKE London Jeans* that I mentioned a few weeks back. I bought them and I LOVE them. I essentially don’t have much of a waist, and if you’re the same, then I think this cut could be a bit of you. I’m 5’7” and they could not be a more perfect length. The only caveat - they run small. Size up! I’m usually a 28-29 in denim, but a 30 in these was spot on.
As always, paid subscribers to The Wardrobe Edit get full access to each Friday’s post and behind the paywall this week, there’s the usual additional fashion reading and viewing if you want something to scroll over your lunch break. Along with my top style saves of the week and a video you won’t find elsewhere on how I packed for New York. It’s long! I was excited! And I can’t wait to update you all next week with my finds…
