The Style Edit: The High-Street Gingham Trouser Dupe + Summer Outfit Finishing Touches
Plus, THE comfy clothing brand to know and a Dragon Diffusion review...
Are you caught up on all things TWE?! Last week, I nailed heatwave dressing if you’re in need of some sweaty day outfit ideas - it’s one of my best wardrobe diaries yet, if I do say so myself. I also issued a retraction on the trends I’ve changed my mind about. Fancy a bit of beauty? I shared the 27 products that I buy on repeat. It’s been busy! Today’s post feels like a collection of missing summer style puzzle pieces that might be the finishing touch your wardrobe is lacking…
Jenni Kayne Crosby Tee* - This was a recommendation, direct from Jennifer - her perfect oversized black tee, which is surprisingly something I lack in my wardrobe, so yes, I added it to my wishlist (I wrote more about my current shopping strategy here). This feels *very* similar, for a fraction of the price*.
Reformation Fern Satin Shorts* - I mean, really just the whole outfit, please? Love the styling here and the soft off-beige of these shorts. Even I, an exclusive gold jewellery wearer, can accept that the silver jewellery styling here is top tier.
UNIQLO Seersucker Easy Gingham Trousers* - Possibly the find of the week, comes from Melissa’s recommendation in the chat for these trousers, which although don’t have the same silk composition of the DONNI version* are a hell of a load more affordable, come in the green and the red colourways and are reportedly, extremely soft. If you are after the Reformation dupe I shared recently, they are back in stock*.
M&S Beaded Bag* - Look, I can’t say that this bag is hugely practical, but sometimes you just need a fun summer bag to jazz up boring outfits, and this bag will deliver on that premise in a big way.
ALOHAS Tory Burgundy Sandals* - First, you need to read Emily’s post ‘Rent Free! Interiors Edition!’, then come back here and continue your perusal of my picks. She linked to these sandals and don’t they just look FUN?! A great way to add texture to a basic outfit base.
LESET Kyoto Carpenter Pants in Brick* - LESET are just out here teasing me, I swear! I already had these trousers in the Chocolate colourway on my shopping list, and then they had to release them in what is basically the perfect colour for someone with a ‘True Autumn’ palette? DAMN.
A.Emery The Kinto Sandal in Hazel Suede* - Another week, another suede flip-flop recommendation. These keep cropping up for me everywhere. They are well and truly on my radar, and I’m taking it as a sign. I love the idea of just throwing these on with a simple jean and tee look for an easy weekend outfit.
This IG post, and her subsequent Q&A stories from DONNI* Founder, Alyssa Wasko Stein, are an absolute treasure trove of summer outfit ideas and recommendations. Here’s what caught my eye:
Vintage Escada Leopard Print Silk Shirt - LOVE it tied around the waist. I found the best selection on Vestiaire and Etsy*.
Still Here The Undertshirt* - The tank that’s between a vest and a tee. Although the white feels classic, I like the softness of the cream.
Liffner Mega Sprout Suede Tote Bag* - Alyssa said this was her go-to, throw-it-all-in bag, and it looks simply massive.
A reminder that TWE readers are the best-dressed readers in town. Chic! Fun! Playful! Experimenting with colour! Thanks so much for starting this thread, Nicole; it’s chock-full of summer ideas…
Behind the paywall is where things get chatty. Fewer shopping picks and more style-focused content. There’s a list for you of everything I consumed and loved this week to read over your lunch break, plus all the intel on a brand that you might not be familiar with that gives serious comfy working-from-home/weekend vibes, with solid styling ideas. Plus, the easy ways I’m adding warmth to monochrome summer outfits and a reader requested video review on my Dragon Diffusion bag collection. A TWE subscription not only gives you access to the full Style Edit post every Friday, but also to my Wardrobe Diary every Sunday, too and unlocks the 300+ post archive. You get a lot of bang for your buck around these parts…
