January is SHOP YOUR WARDROBE month over on ‘The Wardrobe Edit’, a four-week-long content calendar that perfectly aligns with a January ‘no-buy’ or if you want to take a moment to press pause, reconnect with your wardrobe and fall back in love with what you already have. To gain full access to all the posts, you can upgrade to a paid subscription (THANK YOU!) with a limited-time 25% off! Along with all the content I post this month, you’ll unlock over 350+ posts, stacked with styling ideas, tips and formulas…
Controversial take, but *whispers*…. I’d love to see more video content on here. I KNOW, I KNOW, but before you get ready to angrily tap out an impassioned reply in the comments, hear me out. YouTube is pretty barren for fashion content (the perceived barrier to entry is just too high). TikTok fashion content is marginally better (it’s quick, snappy and easy for anyone to do on their phone), but it inevitably gets mixed in with slop, and you slowly start to hate yourself as you scroll, and scroll, and scroll. Instagram is your best bet, but Reels can be naff, and I’m looking for long-form video content here. I essentially want to see people dicking around in their wardrobes. And call me biased, but the most stylish people residing online are HERE!! On this very platform!! Churning out posts that I save, revisit, and am desperate to share. I know I’m being greedy when I say it, but the things I would do to have my favourite creators and writers yap away to me and keep me company as I get ready in the morning. HEAVEN.
Luckily, Substack, in its (perhaps misguided) attempt to be anything and everything for anyone and everyone, does make video content relatively easy (live videos streamed from your phone can be broadcast and sent to subscribers with essentially one click). And I love watching Rachel’s Sunday night lives, Allison’s been getting into them too recently, and I’ve watched this video from Reva more times than I’d like to admit. It takes some rewiring to remember that there’s a video to watch on here, rather than settling down to read a post. It’s a different mood, and I get that. But I’m willing to rewire for even more fashion content from my Internet favourites.
Tangent over, but you see my request is simply a major compliment and ode to the fact that I LOVE IT HERE. So I’m putting it out into the universe and throwing my hat into the ring. I originally thought of making this video for my YouTube channel, but it’s essentially a Friday ‘Style Edit’ post in video format, so I thought I might as well upload it here for you, too. Something to put on whilst you do your Sunday pottering. Do you like it? How do we feel about videos on here? If you’re keen, I’m happy to dick around in my wardrobe for you on a more regular basis. Just say the words.
