Everything I Wore in Mallorca
Plus, the restaurant to book in advance, a great hotel recommendation and the swimsuit that had me taking selfies galore...

May = a trip to Mallorca. At least it’s been that way for the past three years. We bloody love that island. Good food, good people and the chance to get some Vitamin D on our bones in a sub-two-hour plane journey. Sign me up. In this phase of life, I enjoy a repeat holiday; going somewhere we’ve been before is the only way I can relax or else the guilt of doing nothing kicks in. Adventures will resume once I have the chance to sleep in past 6 am repeatedly (wishful thinking!). So here’s everything we got up to: from the new hotel, which I would 10/10 recommend, to the taco place that my husband said was his highlight of the trip. I also managed to pack pretty well (THANK YOU to my past self for putting together these packing guides) and have hot holiday outfit formulas to share with you by the bucketload. Not normally a summer style lover? Let’s see about that…
THURSDAY

Ok, so long story short, we had a bit of a false start here. Our flight was supposed to take off at lunchtime on Wednesday, but after our original plane got struck by lightning, the luggage conveyor belt got stuck on the replacement plane they loaded us all up on, then a hailstorm caused the flight to be so delayed that the crew had run out of legal working hours, they pushed our flight back by a whole day. Fun times. We were fortunate to be able to adjust our trip, allowing us to return a day later than planned (big love to my parents and their high-energy babysitting abilities!!!). It felt like kismet that I’d just read Erika’s note ‘View everything as a test of your ability to relax + be nice’. YES. Yes indeed.

…but we made it! We usually stay at Finca Serena, but this time round, we stayed at their sister hotel, The Lodge, and to be honest, I’d struggle to pick a favourite. Both are the kind of hotels with outstanding service, interiors and food, where you never want to leave (room 49 at The Lodge was GREAT - super light and airy - and I’d request it if we visited again). We got in, dumped our bags and then headed straight back out to my favourite restaurant in the world - and I’m not exaggerating here - El Camino. I think about their scarlett prawns on a regular basis.

FRIDAY

Our day mostly consisted of eating, drinking ice-cold cans of full-fat Coke and reading books by the pool, so we were well and truly rested for dinner. We ventured back into Palma and to another Kim-recommended restaurant (this girl has ALL the best Mallorca recs), Aquanauta, a taco bar with outstanding margaritas. We were the only non-locals in there, so that’s when you know it’s good!! Great vibes, even better food. This matching set was exactly what I wanted to wear. If you’re anything like me and live in trousers all summer long, these cotton drawstring trousers with embroidered detail* will be your favourite trousers of the summer - just make sure to go one size down.

SATURDAY

We chilled big time on Saturday, and it was everything you could wish for in a child-free trip. I napped for the first time in years! We played a board game by the pool! We pottered around a local supermarket! That is my version of heaven right there. I just wanted to be comfortable. So, my breakfast outfit was head-to-toe black (the fit on this tank* is VERY good - compressive enough to not wear a bra, but straps thick enough to handle one if it’s needed), and I switched to a black linen playsuit* once it warmed up.

Look, I am not in the business of swimsuit selfies really, let alone BUTT SELFIES, but the existence of the photo above is a testament to this swimsuit*. I don’t have much going on in the chest area, but I did pump when I had my little one, so I appreciate a little lift and having a long torso means that sometimes the fit of swimwear in the body and crotch area can be off, but I just felt great in this. Swimwear can be pricey, but for £57 I’d say this is a steal. The adjustable straps meant I could hoik it up in the front, and the brief coverage is exactly what I want at this point in life (not requiring a huge amount of bikini line maintenance, but not too covered either).

The hotel offers a communal dinner in the lavender fields on the property on Saturday nights, so we thought we’d give it a go. We’re so happy we did - it was so memorable! We met some friendly fellow guests and ate paella as the sun set behind the hills. In terms of what I wore, I’d been saving this dress* for the final night. The colour! The square neckline! I prefer my mini dresses to be mini, so I had my Seamstress take it up an inch or so just to show a little extra leg, but the body fitted like a glove. The weather got pretty cool once the sun set, so I used this shirt* (again!) as a cover-up. This day was seriously a DREAM.
SUNDAY

We timed our flight on the way home so we would still have time to grab breakfast at the hotel (VERY 👏 IMPORTANT 👏). In terms of what I wore for the flight home, it was a rehash of what I wore on our original travel day; the same top*, the pair of cotton trousers* I wore to dinner on the second night and the usual shoe and bag suspects. Dare I say it was my favourite of the trip?! There was a simplicity and ease to it, but the detail on the trousers and super-thin tie just added enough of something. It’s the kind of outfit I could happily kick back in all summer long.
THE HOLIDAY STANDOUTS
If I had to whittle it down to the top five pieces that I’d pack again in a heartbeat, it would be these:
The Straw Tote* - It’s truly magical just how much you can fit into this bag. There’s a zipped pouch to store your passport, and I loved how squishy and light it was; the straps never dug in.
Square-Neck Swimsuit* - Of course, this was going to be on this list! The standout of the whole trip. There’s always room in my wardrobe for a piece of swimwear that makes you feel great.
Leather Thong Sandals* - It’s not like I totted up a load of steps on this trip, but I still got through it blister-free, and it was my first time wearing these. If you’re looking for an elevated flip-flop, look no further.
Embroidered Trousers* - Hopefully, the pictures do these justice, as they are truly beautiful for a pair of trousers. Just remember to go a size down in these - they tend to run large.
Ribbed Tank Top* - I’ve worked out that I prefer tank tops that run with a more square neckline rather than something scoop-neck or v-neck, so the cut of this suited me well.
…and adding in a special mention to this Boat-Neck Rib Top*. Obviously not one to wear in the heat of the day, but perfect for travel or cooler evenings. A tee that elevates your outfits? SOLD.

The Only Holiday Packing List You Need
Look, if there is one thing that I’m really good at doing aside from eating pistachio cream directly from the jar, it’s being organised, which means that packing for trips is one of my favourite tasks of all time (the same sadly can’t be said for unpacking
Style Ideas for Those In-Between Moments
If I asked my IRL friends if they knew about DONNI, they would probably think I was referencing my boss from my teenage Saturday job, who got fired for cooking the books. RETAIL DRAMA!
