Writing a high-street bridal round-up wasn’t on my plan for the day. But in clicking around sourcing pieces for this week’s Style Edit, I came across so many good dresses and sets, mostly under £500, that I put this post together in record time.
March 2017 was when I purchased my wedding dress for our May ceremony. It was the Whistles Eve Silk Dress* (still in stock to this day, and there are plenty online secondhand if your size is unavailable), and if I had to pick a dress to get married in right now, I’d pick it all over again. My friends made me try on the other dresses Whistles had to offer, but I knew all along it was the Eve - it’s a when-you-know, you-know kinda thing. It was reasonable; Mark wore a REISS suit, and our whole wedding day came in around £5k. New to our registry office, restaurant lunch, party back at our flat wedding day lore? Check out the TikTok below. So that’s all to say, I am very much a part of the high-street wedding dress fan club, and here are my favourites…
SOMETHING MINI
Reformation Dale Two Piece* - This is so FRICKING cool. I definitely do not have the vibe to pull it off, but with a pair of flats and a tiny bag? LOVE.
Reformation Ecru Dress* - The sleek styling suits the dress so well. If you’re a low-slick-back-bun kinda gal who likes a mini, this is it.
ALIGNE Fern Bow Satin Mini Dress* - At £145, this is the most affordable of the bunch. If you had an engagement party or other wedding events, it’s a great reusable option.
Reformation Maves Dress* - I really like how it’s styled here, with the black sheer tights. It could be a nice winter registry office option.
A LITTLE MORE CLASSIC
Whistles Ivory Ellis Strapless Wedding Dress* - This one is very classic (in fact, all the Whistles dresses are), but the big bow at the back is a nice - not too girlie - touch.
Whistles White Eve Silk Wedding Dress* - My dress! On sale and sadly out of stock in most sizes, but like I said, I found a few* secondhand on eBay.
Whistles Ivory Eileen Silk Wedding Dress* - A 100% silk and a patchwork style that feels very vintage.
Whistles Ivory Melody Wedding Dress* - A little bit backless, but it looks like an option that could still work with a bra if that’s a must for you.
MY FAVOURITES
Reformation Jovie Silk Dress* - I’m a sucker for a spaghetti strap, square neckline slinky dress so this ticks all the boxes for me.
Whistles Ivory Andie Wedding Blazer* & Trousers* - I have to say I do love a trouser suit. Like, imagine this with a slightly unrulier hair style, sleeves cuffed and fun accessories? A good option.
RIXO Selene Midi Dress* - This is giving me registry office, Christmas/New Year vibes - so fun, but something I feel like you’d be able to wear again.
Reformation Ciana Satin Dress* - If I did have to pick another wedding dress, and I was getting married in the autumn/winter, then it would be this. SO classic and I love the pairing of it with black accessories.

Style Clinic: March Q&A
I haven’t done a live video on the Internet in YEARS! But I thought it could be the best way to conduct my monthly Style Clinic offering - a chance for paid subs to have their fashion woes answered by yours truly. And you know what? It was bloody great. An hour-long chat where we discussed everything from the best cashmere jumpers (that are apparently on sale in some countries!), solid denim shirts, styling tips for when you bike to work, wedding guest conundrums and new colour combinations to try. Paid subs get access to the full video, along with the show notes of all the links and bits and bobs that I mentioned. It’s MEATY. Pop it on while cooking, or listen on your way to work. Think of it as a FaceTime with your fashion-obsessed mate. Same time next month, yeah?

Love this! It's always great to read these articles, I too was a 2017 and got my wedding dress from Ghost London for £300!
Ohh, I wish this post existed 1.5 years ago when I was looking for my dress. I got one from Ted Baker and if I was getting married again I would pick the same dress. The classic bridal vibe is not something I would go for anyways and why splurge on something you wear only once?
